Day Fourteen: We Were Created to Worship
Colossians 1:16,
For by Him all things were created… all things were created by him and for him.
Ever stop to think, “why am I here and what is my purpose?” Many philosophers have pontificated that very purpose of life and meaning. However, I want to discuss the point from a biblical perspective and make the defense that fulfilling our very nature and purpose is our act of worship. It’s why we were created.
God created man in His own image, meaning that of all His creation we are more like Him than anything else He created. We were created for an eternal purpose, for His purpose to bring Him glory. According to Romans 12:1, offering up our lives and our devotion is our spiritual act of worship and when we live out our purpose, it pleases God the Father and brings Him glory. That is the sole purpose of worship.
Ephesians 2:10 goes on to tell us,
“we are God’s workmanship, created to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
To each of us who have been saved by grace, He has given us different and unique talents and spiritual gifts which enable us to do what He has designed us to do.
1 Peter 4:10 says,
“each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”
Again, this pleases God and fulfills our purpose in life.
Here is the crazy thing. When we live out what we were created to do, we find joy and fulfillment. Something that the rest of the world earnestly seeks. I’ve known many people seeking to fill the God- created void with things of this world which only bring heartache and pain, giving to no other purpose but finding temporary happiness however they can. But for those Christ followers who know their purpose, who know what they were destined and created to do, I’ve seen joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
